At Tough Choices Foundation, our mission is to empower and uplift underserved youth, particularly those in low-income environments, by providing them with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. We are committed to breaking down barriers, fostering resilience, and igniting the potential within every young person, ensuring they can make tough choices that lead to brighter futures. Through mentorship, access to school supplies, educational assistance, financial aid, and housing opportunities, we aim to create a world where no child has to face adversity alone. Tevon Coney – Founder’s Vision
In my rookie year, wearing the Silver and Black as a member of the Oakland Raiders, I embarked on a journey that would extend far beyond the football field. Growing up, I was fortunate to witness the positive impact my parents had on our community. They consistently found ways to give back, whether through monetary donations or by providing essential items to those in need. These experiences shaped my understanding of the world: life isn’t always fair, and many people, especially children, face disadvantages daily.
At the tender age of 8, I began to grasp the profound notion that we should be grateful for everything that God and our parents provide. But I also made a promise to myself: one day, I would have the platform and means to give back in a significant way, to help others overcome obstacles and achieve greatness in their lives.
This promise laid the foundation for what would later become the Tough Choices Foundation. My commitment to making a difference is not limited to one city or one state; it spans across borders and communities, as I believe every child and family deserves the essentials they need to strive for greatness. The platform I’ve been blessed with as an athlete has allowed me to fulfill this commitment, and it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly.
Tough Choices Foundation is a testament to the belief that with the right support, mentorship, and access to resources, every young person can overcome adversity and unlock their full potential. Together, with the help of our partners, supporters, and caring individuals, we are on a mission to make dreams a reality.
My journey with the Oakland Raiders taught me about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. These qualities not only define my career on the field but also drive my passion for creating a brighter future off the field. Through Tough Choices Foundation, I aim to inspire and uplift youth and their families, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed and thrive.
